Privacy Policy
Bench does not collect your data. This page explains what that means in practice.
The short version. Bench has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. It never sends anything anywhere. Every calculation you run, every entry in your Log, and every preference you set is stored only on your device, and is deleted when you delete the app.
Information we collect
None. Bench does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no way to create an account, because the app has no backend to create one on.
Specifically, Bench does not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any other contact information
- Your location
- Contacts, photos, calendars, or files
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics
- Any of the values, results, or notes you enter into the app
Information stored on your device
Bench saves a small amount of data locally so that the app remembers your work between sessions:
- Your Log — the calculations you have saved
- Your tape — the running history in the calculator
- Your preferences — appearance settings and unit choices
This data is written to your device's private app storage. It is not readable by other apps, it is never uploaded, and no one but you can see it. Deleting Bench removes all of it permanently. Because it is never sent off the device, we cannot retrieve it for you if it is lost — if a calculation matters, record it somewhere outside the app as well.
If you have device backups enabled, your operating system may include Bench's local data in your own encrypted backup, in the same way it does for other apps. That backup is between you and your device maker; it does not pass through us.
Network access
Bench makes no network requests. The app works fully offline and does not require an internet connection at any point. There are no advertisements, no third-party SDKs, no tracking pixels, and no embedded browsers.
Copying results
When you tap to copy a result, Bench places that value on your device's clipboard at your request. Handling of the clipboard after that point is your operating system's — on some devices, an OS feature may sync the clipboard between devices you own. Bench itself neither reads your clipboard nor transmits its contents.
Children's privacy
Bench is a general-purpose scientific calculator and is not directed at children. Since the app collects no information at all, it collects none from children either.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose or delete. The data on your device is entirely under your control: clear it from within the app, or delete the app to remove all of it.
Changes to this policy
If Bench ever gains a feature that changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the effective date below will change. Bench's design intent is to remain an offline, no-account tool.
