Bench

Support

Bench is a bench-side calculator for lab work — molarity, dilutions, buffers, percent solutions, nucleic acids, and unit conversion.

What's in the app

The Log tab keeps the results you save, so you can retrace what you made. The Calc tab is a general calculator with a running tape.

Common questions

Does Bench need an internet connection?

No. Bench works entirely offline and never makes a network request. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Where is my data stored?

On your device only. Your Log, your tape, and your preferences never leave it. See the privacy policy for the full picture.

Can I sync my Log between devices?

Not currently. Because Bench has no servers, there is nothing to sync through. If a result matters, copy it out or write it down. Deleting the app deletes its data permanently.

How do I change the appearance?

Setup → Appearance. Bench ships several palettes and follows your system light/dark setting unless you override it there.

I think a calculation is wrong.

Please tell us — this is the most valuable kind of report we can get. Email the tool you used, every value you entered including units, the result Bench gave, and the result you expected. Calculations are covered by an automated test suite, so a concrete reproduction usually turns into a fix quickly.

Can you add a calculator for …?

Send the request along with the formula you use and a worked example. Bench is meant to cover the calculations people actually repeat at the bench, so real use cases carry weight.

Accuracy and intended use

Bench is a calculation aid for laboratory and educational work. It is not a medical device and is not intended for clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic use. Always verify critical calculations independently before acting on them — you remain responsible for what you weigh, pipette, and administer.

Accessibility

Text scales with your system text-size setting, with ceilings on the most compact chrome so labels stay legible rather than collide. Bench ships six palettes, including an Ink option built for maximum contrast — it states a solved result by weight and rule rather than by colour alone. If something is hard to read or hard to reach, please write in and say so.
